My company purchased a run-down industrial warehouse in Northgate. Architect Taylor Ellis was engaged to prepare refurbishment plans and these were forwarded to two contractors for pricing. The quotes received were very close, but I engaged OC Interiors for one compelling reason, their demolition contractor could start immediately. Time was of the essence because a tenant had been secured and they required occupancy in a very short timescale.

As promised, the partial interior demolition commenced the next day. Because of recent flooding in Brisbane and supply-chain backlogs resulting from Covid there was a shortage of building materials and skilled labour. Nevertheless Kel Matheson, ably supported by Des Wilson and his team, worked to a tight timetable. Weekly site meetings revealed significant progress each time. As is typical of refurbishment projects, new issues were encountered regularly. Invariably Kel took them in his stride, added the new jobs to the programme and sourced appropriate sub-contractors.

The refurbishment was completed on time and within the original budget, to a very high standard. The extra jobs were priced fairly, which was pleasing (often these can be the reason for argument at the end of a project). The tenant is delighted with their ‘as new’ warehouse.

I congratulate OC Interiors for an excellent outcome. Paul O’Sullivan priced the works quickly and accurately, Kel jumped straight in and meticulously planned the programme of works and Des made it happen, often working very long hours, including weekends.
